Great smokey mountains!

The opportunity to escape the mundane and step into the wild is one of the things thats truly great about life in America!

The beautiful Great Smokey Mountains are a mountain range along the Tennessee – North Carolina border in the United States. The name “Smokey” comes from the natural blue mist that seems to hover around peaks and valleys and present as large smoke from the distance. Well Great smokey mountains is a national park and not the national forest.

We started out road trip journey from Washington DC to spend new year 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. We had no plans to visit Smokey mountains as its famous for fall colors but the visitor center visit changed our plan for good as they suggested us not to miss since this was on the way to our destination (Tip 1: Always visit the visitor center for a quick chat, you never know whats in stock for you) and its rightly said every season has its own charm, trust me we had no regrets to squeeze our plan to get the cold hug from nature. After spending some time in the artsy town of Gatlinburg that is nearby the entrance of the park, we started traversing the park and were overwhelmed by the beauty of nature and stopped at few view points to take it all in. I felt insignificant and just admired where I was!

Artsy town of Gatlinburg: This town is beautifully lit during Christmas and New Year time.

There are many view points along the way and you can take a break based on whatever allures you. Due to the time constraint we could only visit few points including Newfound gap, chimney tops overlook. I am planning to breathe the air of Great Smokey mountains again soon!
